The house we are designing our house after has in the island (overlooking the living room) the sink and dishwasher. I was thinking ours would be the same. We will have a window in our kitchen so the builder put the stove in the island and the sink by the window. Jeremy and I are thinking we want the sink in the island because we will spend more time in front of the sink then the stove. If you dont mind posting your opinion-- sink or stove in the island?
Also, for the playroom we are thinking about tile versus carpet (plan on having crafts and things in the playroom as well--paint, play doh, etc). Please comment on your opinion regarding this as well.
Thanks!

ReplyDeleteI know Jason would love to have an island with a stove and he would definitely prefer that to a sink - however, he spends A LOT of time cooking and not so much time doing dishes (that's usually my job). On the other hand, with the stove on the island, you need to have a fan/exhaust above the stove, which may detract from the openness of the room.
ReplyDeleteAs for putting tile in Iris's playroom...we have ceramic tile in our kitchen and baths and I've noticed that it always feels cool. It feels kind of nice in summer, but in winter my feet get frozen if I'm standing on it for an extended time period (e.g., while washing dishes), even when wearing thick socks. If you plan on putting down an area rug, probably not such a big deal.
